Elephantjournal posted their top ten commuter bikes, which I found fairly interesting. They had ANT’s Light Roadster, which are gorgeous and about as practical as a 3k costum build can be, but as a commuter it fails, unless you are locking the bike up at the Pentagon. In the top ten is the Biomega AMS, which is a shaft drive, internal geared hub with disc brakes, which is intended to be about as upkeep free as any could hope for, only they use mechanical disc brakes rather than a set of hydraulics, which would need less attention and could certainly be justified by the price. The bike I liked best is the Masi Soulville, which is very classy and fairly inexpensive as a SS, because one is all you need anyway.
